Pictures of Alfred H. Howarth who served
aboard the Ocean-Going Tug Flying Breeze
during the First World War.
(The first vessel bearing this name)
Photos & info from his son, John Howarth - if you
have any more information about Alfred
Howarth, or his ships, please contact me and I
will pass the information to John.
Family – Looks like a family group taken when
Alfred passed his exams as a Sparks.
He’s the one on the right wearing the sea-
going gear. With him are his brothers, sister,
mother and father. Taken possibly around 1912-
1915
Wireless Cabin – No date or any other details on
this photograph of Alfred with headphones on,
but it may be post 1918
Prahsu – Again no inscription or other
details apart from the ships name on the
lifebelt.
Alfred is the one in the back row wearing the
cap and smoking the pipe.
The Prahsu was built by Harland and Wolff in
Belfast in 1907 and broken up in 1931
